The Clean Vehicle Education Foundation (CVEF) launched a public awareness campaign to remind natural gas vehicle (NGV) owners to have their compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel storage cylinders periodically checked by qualified inspectors. For more click here.







Technology Committee

Welcome to CVEF's Technology Committee (TC) web page. The TC assures development of practical and accepted industry standards that reduce the risks of infrastructure, equipment and vehicle investment, and oversees other technical issues of concern to the NGV industry. TC membership is open to all sponsors of the Foundation as well as other interested parties.

Members include representatives of gas utilities, vehicle OEMs, equipment and service providers, government agencies, fleets and others. Brian Stokes of PG&E chairs the TC.

Work of the TC and its CVEF staff includes:

  • Sponsoring updating of ANSI CNG container, PRD and conversion standards.
  • Facilitating updating of the CNG container and PRD standards
  • Providing staff member as chair of the SAE Truck and Bus Alternative Fuels Subcommittee and as a member of the SAE Truck and Bus Council
  • Providing administrative support to develop SAE LNG container, Connector and Composition Recommended Practices and CNG Composition RP.
  • Serving as an active member or chairs of various SAE, ISO, ANSI, NFPA and CSA committees doing work on NGV or other alternative fuel codes and standards
  • Providing a source of NGV expertise to the industry and other interested persons
  • Establishing and monitoring CNG cylinder inspection program
  • Participating in vehicular hydrogen codes and standards activities to bring NGV expertise to the hydrogen community.
